How to Identify SQL Service Pack Version

You can identify the current service pack of an SQL install by viewing the corresponding registry key.

SQL 2005

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\(Instance Name)\CurrentVersion

 

CurrentVersion value =
Gold:9.00.1399.*
SP1:9.00.2047.*
SP2:9.00.3042.*
SP3:9.00.4032.*
SP4:9.00.5000.*

 

 

SQL 2008
