Purpose
This article provides steps to perform while uninstalling/reinstalling the Shavlik/VMware Remote Scheduler service on a single machine.
Resolution
To uninstall/reinstall the Shavlik/VMware Remote Scheduler service on a single machine:
- On the target machine:
- Open a command prompt as an administrator.
- Run this command:
CD C:\Windows\ProPatches\scheduler - Run this command:
stschedex.exe /remove
- Open Windows Explorer and delete the C:\Windows\ProPatches folder and its contents.
- Open Windows Registry Editor and verify that the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Shavlik\Scheduler registry key is removed. If not, ensure to delete it.
- On the Protect console:
- In NetChk Protect 7.x:
- Go to Tools> Options> Default Credentials and reset the credentials.
- Go to Tools> Options> Scheduling and ensure that the Shavlik Scheduler is selected.
- In VMware vCenter Protect 8.x:
- Go to Manage> Credentials.
- Add credentials that you want to use as default or edit existing credentials to ensure that the password is up-to-date.
- Ensure to set the proper credentials as the default credentials.
- Go to Tools> Options> Scheduling and ensure that the VMware Scheduler is selected.
- In NetChk Protect 7.x:
Note: During next deployment to the target system, the scheduler is automatically reinstalled.
Additional Information
Alternatively, to uninstall the Scheduler from a target machine on the Protect console:
- Click Manage> Scheduled Tasks.
- Right-click the target machine name and click Scheduler Service> Uninstall.
