Symptoms
VMware vCenter Protect Configuration Management (formerly Shavlik NetChk Configure) is successfully activated upon entering a license key, but loses its license activation.
Note: You may continue to observe this issue after reactivating the Configuration Management application.
Cause
If vCenter Protect Configuration Management is installed on a virtual machine that has vMotion in place, the vMotion process breaks the license activation for Configuration Management.
The reason for this is that our licensing depends on values that are changed during the vMotion process. We are not able to provide any further information on the values affected since it is not information we can provide publicly .
Resolution
This is a known issue affecting vCenter Protect Configuration Management 4.x.
To workaround this issue, install vCenter Protect Configuration Management on a physical machine, or on a virtual machine that is not set up for vMotion.
Additional Information
This issue does not affect current versions of VMware vCenter Protect or Shavlik Protect (patching application).
