Unable To Add An Email Address When Configuring Alerts for Patch for SCCM

Purpose

 

The purpose of this document is to discuss a workaround when you cannot add a certain type of email address when configuring alerts for Patch for SCCM.

 

Symptoms

 

In Ivanti Patch > Manage Alerts > Manage Subscriptions, when entering an email address to receive alerts for Patch for SCCM, you are not able to set an email address with more than four characters after the dot in the email address.

 

 

Cause

 

This is a defect with no ETA on the fix, but a workaround exists as is discussed in the next section.

 

Resolution

 

    1. Save a version of the email with four characters or less after the dot.

 

    2. Close SCCM.

    3. Open Explorer and navigate to C:\ProgramData\Ivanti\Patch\Alerts.

    4. Make a backup of each of the files.

    5. Open each file and find the shortened email and add what is missing.

 

    Example:

          Entered:

          <anyType xsi:type="xsd:string">xyz.j.doe@acme.loca</anyType>

          Change to:

          <anyType xsi:type="xsd:string">xyz.j.doe@acme.local</anyType>

 

    6. Save the file.

    7. Open SCCM and verify the changes.
